September: the canopy has closed over the ridges. Photographs from the most recent visit, against the same ground in August.

Two pumps, a sprinkler line and three dredged ponds — irrigation went in across July and August, during the rains, while we still had the choice.

Planting ran from the start of May into late June — rhizome broken and dipped by hand before it went anywhere near the ground.

Land cleared, mapped and soil-tested across the farm, ready for the first rhizomes.
